Harris Center at Massachusetts General Hospital

The Situation

Through the support of a philanthropic benefactor, the Harvard Eating Disorders Center at Massachusetts General Hospital was re-named the Harris Center. The director of the Center wanted to re-launch it as a unified brand on all appropriate communication fronts.

The Solution

Black Diamond was hired, based on the company’s business model, to develop the re-launch plan and oversee the numerous communications initiatives that were needed. By creating an integrated plan, Black Diamond developed: new brand identity, web site redesign, collateral pieces, public relations outreach and event planning.

The Results

The Harris Center was successfully re-launched with a highly attended event, television interviews and an integrated branding effort. The brand identity also received an American Graphic Design Excellence Award.

Middlesex Savings Bank - Annual Report

The Situation

Middlesex Savings Bank wanted to re-invigorate their annual report which they believed seemed too typical of a bank and not about how the bank serviced its customers and supported the communities that the bank covered.

The Solution

Black Diamond provided a complete re-design and traveling road show to photograph the bank with retail & commercial customers, as well as community support and involvement. Black Diamond also designed the report to be used as a stand alone leave behind or, when needed, integrated into the bank’s commercial lending promotional package.

The Results

The bank’s senior management said that is was, “the best annual report the bank had ever done.”

Middlesex Savings Bank - Public Relations

The Situation

Middlesex Savings Bank previously had not taken an aggressive approach to public relations outreach. Essentially the bank had received media coverage by luck.

The Solution

Beginning in the third quarter of 2005, the bank contracted with Black Diamond Marketing Group to help establish an infrastructure that developed, placed and tracked newsworthy items about the bank, the banking category and activities of its employees.

The Results

To date a comprehensive and consistent program has been developed evolving into a stream of positive stories about the bank in community newspapers, as well as establishing the bank as the go-to resource on banking related issues in Middlesex’s markets for major dailies and industry trade publications. Average press hits per month are close to 100 covering all media formats.

Slade's Ferry Bank

The Situation

Under new leadership Slade’s Ferry Bank wanted to re-energize a dormant brand in numerous areas covering: marketing, collateral, product development, research and beyond.

The Solution

Black Diamond Marketing Group led the bank through a complete metamorphosis in all areas. The process started with positioning research, leading to a comprehensive re-design of the bank’s product set and introduction of competitive electronic banking services. To get the word out an integrated marketing communications plan was developed with the appropriate merchandising systems/collateral/advertising and internet promotions. Complementing the more traditional marketing activities, a comprehensive community sponsorship and public relations outreach effort was also developed. And to better understand their customer profile, Black Diamond brought in its analytics partner to complete a thorough study of the bank’s distribution plan including areas of opportunity & a profitability analysis of their customer base.

The Results

Over three years the bank grew just shy of 40% with the bank president being named one of the top 25 most powerful women in U.S. banking by a leading trade publication for the past two years.

Zeiterion Theatre

The Situation

With a new executive director on board, the Zeiterion Theatre in New Bedford, MA had suddenly catapulted from 12 shows the previous season to 45 for the upcoming season. The season was to start in less than two months and the theatre was without a plan or any marketing materials.

The Solution

Black Diamond was hired and jumped into help them. Over the course of the next month and half a comprehensive brand identity program for “The Z” was developed and rolled out with brochures, direct mail programs, performance programs, banners & posters. All of this was supported by a comprehensive media plan, numerous print ads and direct marketing to the theatre’s target markets.
